Acadia National Park, located on Maine’s Mount Desert Island, is a breathtaking mix of ocean coastline, granite peaks, pine forests, and scenic carriage roads. It’s the only national park in the northeastern U.S. and offers a unique experience with its dramatic landscapes, iconic hikes like the Beehive and Precipice trails, and incredible views from Cadillac Mountain—the first place to see the sunrise in the continental U.S. during parts of the year.
There are two main campgrounds in the park: Blackwoods Campground, located closer to Bar Harbor and the park’s more popular attractions, and Seawall Campground, on the quieter western side of the island. Both campgrounds offer tent and RV sites, but there are no electric or water hookups. Amenities are basic, with restrooms and water stations available. Showers are not on site and are available for a fee at privately operated facilities just outside the campgrounds.
Camping in Acadia gives you easy access to hiking, biking, tide pooling, and exploring charming nearby villages like Bar Harbor, all while being surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of Maine’s rugged coastline.
