This was our second stay at First Landing State Park, and it's quickly become one of Ella's favorites — the campground is just a short walk across a boardwalk to a huge, dog-friendly beach. The park has 200 campsites with hookups, a convenient camp store, laundry facilities, and plenty of well-maintained bathhouses. There are also 19 miles of easy-to-moderate hiking trails that wind through a beautiful bald cypress swamp, complete with wooden boardwalks, scenic overlooks, and cozy benches for resting along the way
We spotted dolphins in the Chesapeake Bay, with the impressive Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel in the background. This remarkable 17.6-mile bridge-tunnel system connects the Delmarva Peninsula to Virginia Beach, spanning both bridge and underwater tunnel sections. It’s a toll road, and for our RV towing a Jeep, the one-way trip cost us $26.
