We spent the week with some old friends who live near Oley, Pennsylvania. They have a lovely home with a big garden and three little dogs that kept Ella entertained. Unfortunately, we ended up getting to know all the neighbors a little too well—both of our cats escaped, and we found ourselves knocking on doors and putting up flyers all over the area. We managed to get Chicken back after a couple of days, but Kismet was missing for six weeks… that’s a whole other story!
Aside from the cat drama, we had such a great time. We took a scenic train ride through Jim Thorpe to see the fall colors, which were absolutely stunning, and visited the Amish communities around Lancaster—always a peaceful and fascinating experience.
It was also a real treat to spend time with fellow South Africans. We had proper braais, watched some rugby, and shared plenty of laughs. All in all, it was a memorable and eventful week
