Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park is a sprawling park and campground near Jacksonville, Florida, offering a mix of natural beauty and outdoor adventure. The campground has around 300 sites, most of them tucked away in a densely wooded area that provides a good amount of privacy. While the paved access roads make getting around easy, the sites themselves can get quite muddy when it rains. The bathhouses are functional but definitely showing their age and could use some attention.
Despite that, the park has a lot to offer — a freshwater lake, a well-stocked camp store, and an impressive 14 miles of mountain biking trails. One of the biggest highlights is the beach, which is just a short walk from the campground. It's long, flat, and even bikeable — plus, it's dog-friendly, so your pup can join in on the fun.
Do be aware, the park borders a naval base, so helicopter flyovers are common both day and night. For surfers, the spot known as The Poles — located right next to the base — is a popular break and a local favorite

The beach is very dog friendly, and Ella had a blast. Chasing her ball and frisbee and making friends.
There are plenty of birds, at the lake and the ocean and I saw dolphins most mornings on my beach walk.
